A sticky, yellowish-brown, pleasant, strongly aromatic substance that bees collect from buds and young branches of trees. Propolis is primarily used by bees to seal hive niches and to protect against hive invaders, mummifying and sealing them to prevent foreign bodies, dirt, and disease from entering. It is also used for disinfection and control of other pathogens.
Propolis is truly a panacea, and its benefits are almost endless!
Its main ingredients are resins, balms, waxes, essential oils, vitamins and trace elements. Its most important active ingredients are flavonoids, chalcones, terpenes, phenols, vitamins, amino acids, enzymes and minerals.
Propolis is usually dissolved in ethyl alcohol and can be used as a tincture internally and as an external medicine.
- Internally, with its strong antibacterial effect, it can successfully treat bacterial inflammation, a group of upper respiratory tract infections: nasal, sinus, ear and throat. In addition, propolis is useful in overcoming tooth inflammation, gastric and intestinal inflammation, and urinary tract infections.
- Due to its general anti-inflammatory and exfoliating properties, it can be used to cure inflammation of the stomach and stomach ulcer..
- Antitoxic: reduces the effects of toxins entering the body, but increases the body's ability to withstand radioactive radiation.
- Utilizing its antioxidant properties, it can be used as a treatment to cancerous diseases.
- Externally, when applied to the skin surface, it relieves bleeding and, due to its anesthetic effect, relieves pain.
- It is an excellent healer for skin injuries: disinfectant of pathogens, exfoliator and skin regenerator.
- It is also a great treatment for viral infections such as cold sores, aphthous fever, limb warts and fungal infections of the skin.
For internal use as a general immune system booster, follow the recommended daily dose, and for colds it may be repeated 3-4 times daily. Drink it on a spoon, so it is most effective. If we find the taste or alcohol content too strong, drip it onto a piece of bread or a small spoonful of sugar. Even when mixed with honey (propolis and honey in a ratio of 1:5), we get a relatively tasty blend that children prefer to consume.
Apply externally to the affected area. Wait a few seconds for the alcohol to evaporate. At the same time, the burning sensation that accompanies it goes away in the damaged, inflamed area. The resulting yellowish-brown sticky layer is palpable after a few minutes.
Recommended daily dose:
- Adults 30 drops
- For children 15 drops
